Virtually unknown only ten years ago, roughly thirty kms outside Marrakesh, the Agafay desert has become a unique and exceptional location, not to be missed.

In your private SUV, you have just left the pavement ; you follow a dirt road. Around you, as far as the eye can see, acres of rocky vale paint all the colors of earth and stone. A bewitching silence, carried by the wind. In this distance, encampments, perhaps ephemeral, form white specks that mistify. To the west, almost as if you could touch them, the High Atlas mountains trace a line across the horizon…

And then ...

Entering the Agafay desert, you realize instantly that this spectacle of nature is only for the very elite, for you ! Those who traverse the Agafay desert have often passed in front of this magnificent village, in ruins for 250 years, and abandoned in all its splendour. Who has never tried to imagine what it may have been ? Stories as diverse as they are sometimes fantastical have been shared about this place, enigmatic as it is emblematic …

An exceptional location

Humbled by the beauty and majesty of these ruins and the landscape around them, we decided to partially restore them to create a space for events ; a space and events reserved for those who identify with that exceptional rarity.

Events

Le Douar can be privatised from 20 to 500 people for days, evenings, but also overnight celebrations thanks to exceptionally comfortable tents (single/double/quadruple – sleeping for up to 200 pax).
